Yoshihiro Takahashi

Yoshihiro Takahashi the creator of Ginga Nagarebosgi Gin was born in 1953 at Akita-Ken, Japan. His first publiced manga was "Shitamachi Benkei", but he is best known from the legendary dog mangas.
He has created two full series of dog mangas (Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Yamato the White Fighter). Ginga Densetsu Weed has been publiced already 23 volumes and more is still coming.
"Ginga Nagareboshi Gin" (1983) is the first part for "Weed" manga (where we can also see the legendary dog Gin).

Weed was started to public in the year 1999 (in english 2000) and it is sequel to Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, that was publiced already in year 1983. Takahashi is said to be the first manga drawer who has created a pup hero.

In Finland Takahashi's manga Ginga Nagareboshi Gin is known as "Hopeanuoli" and exist only as an anime. In Sweden and Denmark the name is Silver Fang. I guess this is because the word 'ginga' can be understood both 'silver fang' and 'milkyway'. Silver Fang anime can be bought on 4 VHS (the cut version). GNG manga is very hard to get, one must either go to second-hand bookshop in Japan or in Korea. Weed manga has been translated 3 volumes and it is available here in europe also (see more info here).

The idea for his dog manga Takahashi got in year 1980 when he saw an article about dogs that ran away to the mountains from their owners. Takahashi was fascinated by the idea that dogs could return to nature and live like wild wolfs. The name for the main character he got from his own dog.
